North Star Blacksmithing was set up in 2016 by Asher Collins. We're based in Cheltenham at the heart of the Cotswolds but we serve customers from across the UK and occasionally from further afield. One particularly memorable commission made its way to Australia!
We take pride in creating high quality hand made metalwork using traditional techniques and skills. Our priority is making beautifully crafted items that will last generations. We believe that if you make something right you'll only have to make it once.
These techniques keep all our work unique and allows us to fulfil bespoke orders that can be designed in every detail to the heart's content. It also helps keep traditional crafts alive and well in the UK.

Asher Collins
​
Asher first swung a hammer as a young child and started North Star Blacksmithing as soon as he could leave school. In the years since his love of metalwork has taken him from making chefs knives to TV props and back again via bespoke furniture and jewelry.
He works mostly using traditional blacksmiths techniques in iron and steel but is also experienced in the use of copper, brass and precious metals. It's impossible for him to chose a favorite project but the most memorable include a mixture of an unusual brief, some challenging design work and traditional techniques in the manufacture. A personal connection to the work for the client always helps as well.
You'll most often find him in his forge working on his next project and that is where he's happiest.
